**Short answer:** plan one number per ad or option, complete KYC, buy and name the numbers in the
missed call portal, decide where leads go (CSV, [Edesy CRM](https://edesy.in/crm) or your own webhook), test by
dialling each number, then publish. The portal steps take minutes; KYC usually takes under 24
hours.

## Step 0: Plan the Campaign Before You Buy Anything

Answer four questions on paper first.

| Question | Why it matters | Example answer |
|---|---|---|
| What does the caller get? | Sets the promise on the creative | "We call you back within 1 hour with the price list" |
| What do you want to measure? | Decides how many numbers you need | Each newspaper separately |
| How big are the bursts? | Each number has a cap on simultaneous calls | TV spot at 9 pm, use 3 numbers |
| Who follows up, and how fast? | A lead nobody calls is wasted | Two sales staff, from the CRM |

### How many numbers?

- **One per placement** you want to compare (ad, hoarding, channel, store).
- **One per option** for polls and feedback (yes/no, Team A/Team B).
- **Several for bursts** (TV, radio, rallies), split by channel or region.
- **One** is enough for a single always-on callback line.

### Which plan?

- Under about 3,330 webhook events per number per month: **pay as you go** (₹499/month + ₹0.30 per
webhook event, or rental only if you work from CSV).
- Above that: **Unlimited** at ₹1,498/month per number.

Prices are plus 18% GST; a setup fee may apply per number and is shown before purchase. See
[missed call service pricing in India](https://edesy.in/blog/missed-call-service-pricing-india).

## Step 1: Sign In and Complete KYC

1. Go to missedcall.edesy.in and sign in. It uses the same Edesy login as the Voice App and CRM.
2. Open the KYC section and upload documents for your business type.

| Business type | Documents |
|---|---|
| Individual | PAN + Aadhaar |
| Proprietor | PAN + Aadhaar + address proof |
| Partnership / LLP | PAN, registration, authorisation letter, address proof |
| Private / public limited | All of the above + GST certificate |

KYC is required by Indian telecom rules before a number can be issued. Review is usually done
within 24 hours.

## Step 2: Recharge the Wallet

The service is prepaid. Recharge by Razorpay from ₹10 upward and add your GSTIN for a GST invoice.
New accounts get a ₹20 welcome credit; there is no free trial.

Tip: keep a buffer. If the wallet runs low, calls are still captured in the log and CSV and the
owner gets an email alert, but webhook delivery depends on balance.

## Step 3: Buy and Name Your Numbers

1. Open **Numbers** and choose an Indian virtual number.
2. Check the price and any one-time setup fee in the buy dialog.
3. Buy it. Numbers bought in the missed call portal are switched to missed-call mode
   automatically.
4. **Name it after the campaign or placement**, for example "TOI Pune Sunday" or "Poll Option A".
The name appears in the dashboard, CSV and webhook payload (`phone_number_name`), so it becomes
   your attribution label.

Repeat for every number in your plan. If you want Unlimited, enable it per number.

Already have an Edesy Voice App number? "Missed call" is a routing option on any number there too.

## Step 4: Decide Where Leads Go

| Destination | Effort | Real time? | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dashboard + CSV export | None | Log refreshes every 10 seconds; CSV on demand | Rental only |
| [Edesy CRM](https://edesy.in/crm) | Paste one URL, map one field | Yes | ₹0.30 per event (or Unlimited); CRM free plan |
| Your website or backend | Developer receives a webhook | Yes | ₹0.30 per event (or Unlimited) |
| Google Sheets | Small script, see guide | Yes | ₹0.30 per event (or Unlimited) |
| Salesforce, Zoho, HubSpot, LeadSquared | We connect it for you, usually within a few days | Yes | On request |

### Connecting Edesy CRM

1. In Edesy CRM, add a lead source of type **Custom webhook** and copy its URL.
2. In the missed call portal, open **Webhooks**, add the URL and subscribe to `call.missed`.
3. Send a test event, then map `data.from` to the phone field in the CRM (and optionally
`data.phone_number_name` to source or campaign). This is a one-time step.

### Connecting your own endpoint

Add your HTTPS URL in **Webhooks**, subscribe to `call.missed`, and set a signing secret. Each
event is a JSON POST signed with HMAC-SHA256 in the `X-Edesy-Signature` header, retried up to 6
times over about 15 minutes until your endpoint returns 2xx. Retries carry the same `call_sid`,
so de-duplicate on it. Full payload and code samples are in the
[missed call docs](https://edesy.in/docs/missed-call).

For Sheets, follow
[how to send missed call leads to Google Sheets](https://edesy.in/blog/missed-call-leads-to-google-sheets).

## Step 5: Test Everything

Do this for **every** number before printing anything.

1. **Dial the number** from your own mobile. You should hear a busy tone and the call should end
   without charge.
2. **Check the log.** The call should appear with your number, the time and the number's name.
3. **Send a webhook test event** from the portal and confirm it lands in your CRM or system.
4. **Dial again** and check that the real event (not just the test) arrived.
5. **Export a CSV** and confirm the columns suit whoever will work the list.
6. **Check the follow-up.** Make sure the person or system that calls back actually sees the lead.

## Step 6: Prepare the Creative

- Write the number in large type with the action: "Give a missed call on 9XXXXXXXXX".
- State the promise: what happens next and how soon.
- Add a line on how you will use the number (for example "We will call you about this offer").
- For print, test readability at the actual size.

The free [missed call poster generator](https://edesy.in/tools/missed-call-poster-generator) produces a print-ready
creative.

## Step 7: Launch and Monitor

On launch day, watch:

- **Calls and unique callers per number** in the dashboard.
- **Webhook delivery status.** Filter the log by delivery status; replay failed events in bulk once
your endpoint is fixed. Undelivered events are not charged.
- **Follow-up speed.** Check how many leads were called back the same day.

## Launch Checklist

| Check | Done |
|---|---|
| KYC approved | |
| Wallet recharged with buffer | |
| One number per placement or option, each named | |
| Several numbers for burst channels | |
| Plan chosen per number (PAYG or Unlimited) | |
| Destination set (CSV, CRM or webhook) | |
| Every number dialled and seen in the log | |
| Webhook test and real event both received | |
| Follow-up owner and response time agreed | |
| Consent wording on the creative | |
| Teammates invited with the right roles | |

## Common Mistakes

- **One number for everything.** You lose the ability to compare placements.
- **No follow-up owner.** Leads pile up in the log and go cold.
- **Treating every call as a lead.** Use unique callers, and de-duplicate before calling back.
- **Promising an SMS reply** without having it set up. SMS is available on request; arrange it
  before launch.
- **One number for a TV burst.** Simultaneous calls are capped per number.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### How long does it take to set up a missed call campaign?

The portal steps take a few minutes. The longest step is usually KYC, which is typically reviewed within 24 hours. Plan for one working day before you publish the number.

### Do I need a developer to run a missed call campaign?

No. You can work leads from the dashboard and CSV export, or paste an Edesy CRM webhook URL into the portal. A developer is only needed if you want to receive the webhook in your own system.

### How many numbers should I buy?

One per thing you want to measure: each ad, channel, store, poll option or region. For TV or rally bursts, use several numbers because each number has a cap on simultaneous calls.

### How do I test a missed call number before launch?

Dial it from your own phone, confirm you hear a busy tone and the call appears in the log, then use the webhook test button to send a test event to your endpoint or CRM.

### Can the caller get an SMS after the missed call?

SMS and WhatsApp auto-replies are available on request; we set them up for your account quickly. They are not part of the self-serve setup.
