# Industrial Training Certificate Format for Diploma & Engineering Students

> Industrial training certificate format with diploma, B.Tech and ITI samples. What polytechnics check before accepting one, and a free generator that produces the PDF or Word file.

Companies that take on diploma and engineering trainees every summer get asked for the same document each July, and usually rebuild it from scratch. Here is the format, three samples you can copy, and the specific things a polytechnic checks before accepting one.

**Skip the formatting:** our [industrial training certificate generator](https://edesy.in/tools/industrial-training-certificate) produces the PDF or an editable Word file from a short form — free, no signup.

## What the certificate has to do

An industrial training certificate is doing two jobs at once, and most badly written ones only do the first.

The first is **proof of attendance**: this person was here, on these dates, for this long. That part is easy and almost everyone gets it right.

The second is **proof of exposure**: what they were actually put in front of. This is the part departments care about, because "underwent industrial training at our plant" tells an examiner nothing. Naming the shops, machines or processes is what makes the certificate worth submitting — and it is what makes the difference when the student later shows it to an employer.

## 1. Industrial training certificate — Diploma (Mechanical)

> Ref: BEW/ITC/2026/112 · Date: 30 June 2026
>
> To Whom It May Concern,
>
> This is to certify that **Mr. Rahul Verma**, a student of Government Polytechnic, Pune, pursuing Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, enrolment number GPP/2023/0788, has successfully undergone industrial training at Bharat Engineering Works Ltd. from 1 June 2026 to 30 June 2026, a duration of 4 weeks.
>
> Sections covered during the training: machine shop, CNC turning and milling, quality inspection, and assembly.
>
> He gained hands-on exposure to CNC machining, measurement using vernier and micrometer instruments, and routine quality checks. His conduct and performance during the training were found to be Very Good.
>
> We wish him success in his future career.

## 2. Summer training certificate — B.Tech (Electrical)

For degree students the attachment is usually longer and more observational. Say so honestly; a certificate that overstates what an undergraduate was allowed to touch in a substation helps nobody.

> **CERTIFICATE OF SUMMER TRAINING**
>
> This is to certify that **Ms. Sneha Agarwal**, a student of Malaviya National Institute of Technology, Jaipur, pursuing B.Tech in Electrical Engineering, has successfully undergone summer industrial training at Northern Power Systems Ltd. from 20 May 2026 to 15 July 2026, a duration of 1 month and 3 weeks.
>
> Departments covered: substation maintenance, transformer testing, and the protection and control panel section.
>
> She observed and assisted in routine testing procedures and prepared a training report on transformer maintenance practices. Her performance was found to be Excellent.

## 3. In-plant training certificate — ITI (Fitter trade)

ITI certificates should name the **trade**, because that is how the institute files it, and should mention safety conduct explicitly.

> **IN-PLANT TRAINING CERTIFICATE**
>
> This is to certify that **Mr. Manjunath K.**, a trainee of Government ITI, Hosur, in the Fitter trade, has successfully undergone in-plant training at Sri Venkatesh Auto Components from 1 April 2026 to 31 May 2026, a duration of 2 months.
>
> Sections covered: fitting and bench work, press shop, and final inspection.
>
> He followed all shop-floor safety practices and completed the assigned work satisfactorily. His attendance, discipline and performance were found to be Good.
>
> **D. Prakash**
> Works Manager

## What polytechnics actually check

From the three things that most often send a certificate back:

1. **Exact dates, not just a duration.** "Two months of training" without start and end dates fails almost everywhere.
2. **The enrolment or register number.** Degree colleges are relaxed about this; polytechnics and ITIs are not.
3. **An authorised signature with a designation and seal.** A signature with no designation under it, or a certificate on plain paper rather than letterhead, gets questioned.

Beyond those, include:

- Company or plant name and address on the official letterhead
- A title stating "Industrial Training Certificate", "Certificate of Summer Training" or "In-Plant Training Certificate"
- Student name, institute, course or trade
- The shops, sections or departments covered
- A short description of the machines or processes the trainee worked on
- A conduct and performance remark
- Reference number and issue date

## Issuing to a whole batch

Most plants certify a full batch in the same week. The [industrial training certificate generator](https://edesy.in/tools/industrial-training-certificate) accepts a CSV with one row per trainee and returns every certificate in a single ZIP, with your company name, training officer, logo and seal applied across all of them.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### What is an industrial training certificate?

It is a certificate issued by a company, plant or workshop to a student who has completed a period of supervised training at its premises. It records the student's name, institute and course, the shops or sections covered, the exact training dates and duration, and a conduct remark, signed by the training officer or plant head on the company letterhead.

### What is the difference between industrial training and an internship?

Industrial training is usually a structured attachment at a manufacturing or engineering site, common for diploma, ITI and engineering students and often mandatory for academic credit. An internship is broader and may be project or office based. The certificate structure is identical - only the title and the work description change.

### Is an industrial training certificate valid for diploma students?

Yes, provided it is issued by the company on its own letterhead, carries the exact training dates and duration, names the sections covered, and bears an authorised signature with the company seal. Most polytechnics also ask for a training report and an attendance record alongside it.

### How long does industrial training usually last?

Most industrial and in-plant training runs four to eight weeks, commonly between May and July. Some diploma and ITI programmes require a longer attachment of up to six months. State the exact start and end dates rather than only the duration.

### Who should sign an industrial training certificate?

The training officer, HR department or plant head - whoever is authorised to sign on the company's behalf. The certificate should carry their name, designation, signature and the company seal. A certificate signed only by a supervisor without a designation is often questioned.
