# Reject

> The Reject node declines the call before it connects, as declined, busy or unavailable.

Source: https://edesy.in/docs/ivr/nodes/reject

The Reject node declines the call before it is answered, so the caller hears a network tone instead of your IVR. Choose how it is declined: Declined, Busy or Unavailable, with an optional reason. Use it for a number that is out of service, after hours, or as a blocklist branch. A rejected call has no duration, so it is not charged.

## Settings

| Field | Default | Options |
|---|---|---|
| Decline as | Declined | Declined (SIP 603), Busy (SIP 486), Unavailable (SIP 404) |
| Reason (optional) | | E.g. `Number not in service` |

Exits: none.

## Uses

- **Out of service:** the "Reject all calls (out of service)" [template](https://edesy.in/docs/ivr/templates) declines every call on a decommissioned number.
- **Blocklist:** route unwanted callers to Reject.
