# Say

> The Say node speaks text to the caller with text to speech, including per-call variables.

Source: https://edesy.in/docs/ivr/nodes/say

The Say node speaks text to the caller using text to speech (TTS). The text can include per-call variables such as `{{var.order_id}}`, filled in from the outbound call API or a test call. You can preview the audio in the builder without placing a call, and set a language for this node only.

## Settings

| Field | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Text | Yes | What to say. Supports `{{var.name}}` tokens. TTS preview available |
| Language | No | Default (the flow's language), English (India), English (US) or Hindi |

Exits: one.

## Example

```text
Hello {{var.name}}, your order {{var.order_id}} has been shipped.
```

A variable the call doesn't have is spoken as nothing, so "order {{var.order_id}}" becomes "order" if `order_id` is missing.

## Flow checks

- "Say node has no text." (error)
- "Say node has no next step - the call will end here." (warning)

## Tips

- For amounts in a Hindi sentence, pass the amount in words. In COD flows, use `{{var.cod_amount_hindi}}`.
- To use a recorded voice instead of TTS, use [Play Audio](https://edesy.in/docs/ivr/nodes/play).
