[Mute Video](https://edesy.in/tools/mute-video) removes the sound from a video and keeps the picture exactly as it is. Subtitle tracks are removed too, and only the main video track is kept. Everything runs in your browser, so your videos are not uploaded.

## How to Use

1. Click **Load Video Engine**. This loads once per visit.
2. Drop one or more videos (MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV) onto the tool.
3. Click **Remove Audio**. Each video shows its new size when it is done.
4. Click **Download** next to a video, or **Download All (ZIP)** when more than one is ready.

## Things to know

- **What is removed**: every audio track, plus subtitle and data tracks. Only the main video track is kept. The video stream is copied, not re-encoded, so it is quick and the quality is unchanged.
- **Format**: the original format is kept. An MP4 stays an MP4.
- **File size**: the result is a little smaller because the audio is gone. To make it much smaller, use [Video Compressor](https://edesy.in/tools/video-compressor).
- **Large files**: the whole video is held in your browser's memory. Files over 500 MB show a warning and can fail on phones or with many tabs open. The upload limit is 2 GB.
- **Browser support**: needs WebAssembly, which current Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari have.
- **Privacy**: videos stay on your device.

## Tips

- To mute and shorten a clip, trim it first in [Video Trimmer](https://edesy.in/tools/video-trimmer), then remove the audio here.
- To keep the sound as a separate file instead, use [Video to MP3](https://edesy.in/tools/video-to-mp3).
