# Copilot

> Build and fix voice agents by chatting. The Edesy Copilot drafts agents, edits settings, explains why a call went wrong and places test calls, with an approval preview before any change.

Copilot is a chat assistant inside the Edesy dashboard that builds and fixes voice agents for you. Describe the agent you want and Copilot drafts it, often starting from a template. Ask why a call failed and it reads that call's traces. Every change it proposes is shown as a preview, and nothing is saved until you approve it.

## What Copilot can do

| Task | Example request | Needs approval |
|------|-----------------|----------------|
| Create an agent | "Build a Hindi agent that confirms COD orders and asks for a delivery slot" | Yes |
| Change an agent | "Make the greeting shorter and add a callback option" | Yes |
| Switch an agent's model | "Move this agent to Gemini 2.5 Flash-Lite" | Yes |
| Place a test call | "Call my number with this agent" | Yes (it rings a real phone and uses credits) |
| Explain a call | "Why did call X end early?" | No (read-only) |
| Read agent settings | "Which voice and STT does this agent use?" | No |
| Find a template | "Is there a template for appointment reminders?" | No |
| Estimate BYOK costs | "What would I pay per minute with my own OpenAI key?" | No |

## How approval works

1. You ask for a change in the chat.
2. Copilot drafts it and shows a preview of the fields it will set or change.
3. You approve or reject the preview.
4. Only after approval is the agent created or updated.

Read-only questions (call traces, settings, templates) run straight away.

## Permissions

Copilot follows the same roles as the rest of the dashboard. It never acts outside your current workspace.

| Role | Ask questions | Create or change agents | Place test calls |
|------|---------------|-------------------------|------------------|
| Owner, Admin, Member | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Viewer | Yes | No | No |
| Billing | No | No | No |

See [workspaces and roles](https://edesy.in/docs/voice-agent/workspace/roles).

## Tips for good results

- Say who the agent calls, what it must achieve, the language and the tone.
- Mention the data it needs (for example `{{customer_name}}` and `{{order_id}}`) so Copilot adds them as variables.
- For a failed call, paste the call ID or open Copilot from the call.
- After Copilot builds an agent, test it in the [Test Center](https://edesy.in/docs/voice-agent/agent-setup/evals) and review the prompt yourself.

## FAQs

**Can Copilot change an agent without asking me?**
No. Every create or update goes through the approval preview.

**Can Copilot see other workspaces?**
No. It only sees the workspace you are signed in to.

**Is Copilot the same as "Generate agent"?**
Both draft an agent from a description. "Generate agent" is a one-shot form; Copilot is a conversation where you can keep refining and also debug calls.

**Can I undo a change Copilot made?**
Yes. Restore an earlier [config snapshot or prompt version](https://edesy.in/docs/voice-agent/agent-setup/prompt-versions).
