# Embedded Signup

> Connect a WhatsApp Business Account to your Edesy number with Meta Embedded Signup - log in with Facebook, approve permissions, and Edesy sets up messaging without tokens to copy.

Source: https://edesy.in/docs/whatsapp-number/getting-started/embedded-signup

Embedded Signup connects your Edesy number to the WhatsApp Business Platform through Meta's own Facebook login window. You click **Connect with Facebook**, approve the WhatsApp permissions, and Edesy exchanges the result for an access token, finds your WhatsApp Business Account and phone number, and turns messaging on. There are no IDs or tokens to copy by hand.

## Facts

| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Where | wa-connect.edesy.in > **Numbers** > **Enable Messaging** |
| Button | **Connect with Facebook** |
| What you approve | WhatsApp permissions for your Meta business, in a Facebook window |
| What Edesy does | Exchanges the signup code server-side, resolves the WABA ID and phone number ID, subscribes to the WABA's message webhooks, registers the number, saves the connection |
| Token storage | The access token is encrypted at rest and never returned by the API |
| Recorded as | `onboarding_method: "embedded_signup"` on the number's configuration |
| Fallback | **Advanced: enter credentials manually (BYON)**. See [Bring Your Own WABA](https://edesy.in/docs/whatsapp-number/getting-started/bring-your-own-waba) |

## How it works

1. **Open the number.** On **Numbers > My Numbers**, click **Enable Messaging**.
2. **Click Connect with Facebook.** A Facebook window opens.
3. **Choose or create your business and WhatsApp Business Account** in Meta's window and approve the permissions.
4. **Edesy finishes setup.** It exchanges the short-lived code for a token, reads the WABA and phone number, subscribes to message and status webhooks, and registers the number.
5. **Done.** The page shows **Messaging Enabled!** and a checklist: add a webhook, create a template, send a test message.

## API

The portal calls this endpoint after the Facebook window closes. You only need it if you build your own onboarding page with your own Facebook login setup.

`POST https://voice-api.edesy.in/v1/whatsapp/verify/embedded-signup`

| Field | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| `pool_number_id` | string (UUID) | yes | The number from [Get a Number](https://edesy.in/docs/whatsapp-number/getting-started/get-a-number-and-kyc) |
| `code` | string | yes | Authorization code returned by the Facebook login window |
| `waba_id` | string | no | WABA ID from the signup session, if available. Resolved from the token when empty |
| `meta_phone_id` | string | no | Meta phone number ID, if available. Resolved from the WABA when empty |

The response is the number's WhatsApp configuration (`waba_id`, `meta_phone_id`, `display_name`, `quality_rating`, `messaging_limit`, `is_verified`, `is_enabled` and more).

## FAQ

### What is Embedded Signup?
It is Meta's official flow for connecting a WhatsApp Business Account to a platform through a Facebook login window, without copying credentials.

### Do I need a Facebook account?
Yes. You sign in with a Facebook account that can manage your Meta business.

### What if the Connect with Facebook button is missing?
The wizard then opens the manual path. Use [Bring Your Own WABA](https://edesy.in/docs/whatsapp-number/getting-started/bring-your-own-waba).

### Does Edesy see my Facebook password?
No. You sign in on Meta's window. Edesy receives a short-lived code from Meta and exchanges it on the server.

### Where is the access token stored?
It is encrypted at rest in Edesy's database and is never returned in API responses.

### What does the display name come from?
The verified name on the WhatsApp number in your WABA. If none is found, the phone number is used.

### What should I do after signup?
Add a webhook to receive messages, create a template, and send a test message. The success screen links to each.
