Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between listen, whisper and barge?

Listen lets a supervisor hear a live call silently. Whisper lets the supervisor speak to the agent only; the customer can't hear. Barge joins the supervisor into the call so both the agent and the customer hear them.

Does the customer know a supervisor is listening?

Not from the audio in listen or whisper mode, because the customer hears nothing from the supervisor. Many businesses tell callers at the start that calls may be monitored or recorded for quality and training. Check what notice your business needs.

When should a supervisor barge into a call?

Rarely: when a customer asks for a manager, when a call is going badly and whispering hasn't helped, or when the agent needs an approval only the supervisor can give. Tell the agent before you speak, if you can.

How does a supervisor start monitoring on Edesy?

From the supervisor dashboard, the supervisor enters the phone number they want to monitor from, picks a live call and chooses Listen, Whisper or Barge. Edesy calls the supervisor's phone and joins them to the call in that mode.

Is call monitoring included in the Edesy contact center plans?

Live monitoring (listen, whisper, barge) is part of the Edesy cloud contact center. Seats are Rs 1,500 (Starter), Rs 2,500 (Professional) or Rs 3,500 (Enterprise) per agent per month, plus call minutes. Prices exclude 18% GST.

Can I monitor calls through the API?

Yes. GET /v1/ccaas/calls/active lists live calls, and POST /v1/ccaas/calls/:id/monitor starts a monitor leg in listen, whisper or barge mode.
