To use Plivo with Edesy, register a carrier that authenticates to Plivo by registration: Edesy registers to phone.plivo.com with your Plivo SIP credentials and sends calls to the phone.plivo.com:5060 gateway over UDP. Then list your Plivo numbers on Edesy and point their inbound calls at the Edesy SIP address from onboarding.

1. Register the carrier on Edesy#
curl -X POST https://voice-api.edesy.in/v1/trunk-portal/trunks \
-H "Authorization: Bearer sk_YOUR_API_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{
"name": "Plivo",
"requires_register": true,
"register_username": "YOUR_PLIVO_SIP_USERNAME",
"register_password": "YOUR_PLIVO_SIP_PASSWORD",
"register_sip_realm": "phone.plivo.com",
"host": "phone.plivo.com",
"port": 5060,
"protocol": "udp",
"numbers": ["+1XXXXXXXXXX"]
}'
2. Configure Plivo#
- In the Plivo console, create the SIP credentials you used above. Keep them separate from your REST API keys.
- Point inbound calls on your Plivo numbers to the Edesy SIP address from onboarding.
- Allow G.711 μ-law and A-law.
Plivo's trunking options and hostnames vary by product and region. Confirm the gateway and realm for your account in the Plivo console.
3. Test#
- Outbound: POST
/v1/callswithfromset to one of your Plivo numbers. - Inbound: dial the Plivo number.
FAQ#
Should I use my Plivo Auth ID and Auth Token as SIP credentials?#
Use whatever Plivo issues for SIP authentication on your account. Prefer dedicated SIP credentials over your main API keys where Plivo supports them.
Registration succeeds but outbound calls fail.#
Check the caller ID is a Plivo number on your account and the destination is in E.164.
See Bring Your Own Carrier for how routing works.
