Function templates are ready-made custom HTTP functions for common services. Pick a template, connect your credential, and the agent can call that service mid-call. Templates exist for Shopify order status, Stripe payments, Zendesk tickets, HubSpot contacts, Twilio SMS and SendGrid email. You can edit any template after you add it, or copy and import functions between agents.

Add a template#
- Open the agent and go to Tools.
- Click Use Template.
- Search or browse by service, then pick the template.
- Map each credential placeholder to a credential in your credential vault, or create one there.
- Review the description and parameters. The description decides when the agent calls the function, so make it specific.
- Save, then test the flow in the Test Center.
How a template works#
A template is a normal custom HTTP function:
| Part | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Name and description | What the LLM sees when it decides to call the tool |
| Parameters | What the agent must collect from the caller, for example order_id |
| URL, headers, body | The request, with placeholders such as {{order_id}} and {{vault.SHOPIFY_TOKEN}} |
| Response mapping | Optional. Picks the fields the agent should read from the response |
Secrets are referenced from the vault and resolved only when the request is sent, so they are never stored in the function itself.
Copy and import functions#
| Action | Use it to |
|---|---|
| Copy | Copy one function to another agent in the same workspace |
| Import | Bring several tools from another agent at once |
Copied functions keep their credential mappings, so check them if the target agent should use different credentials.
FAQs#
Can I edit a template after adding it? Yes. It becomes your own function on that agent.
My service is not in the list. What now? Create a custom HTTP function from scratch, or use a workflow for multi-step logic.
Can I add templates through the API?
The API creates functions directly. Send the URL, headers, body and credentialRefs yourself. See the Tools API.
Is Shopify also available as a full app? The Shopify app (coming to the App Store) adds abandoned-cart and cancelled-order calls. You can also connect Shopify through webhooks today.
