Compact One-Page Resume Template

Compact uses tight spacing, narrower margins and tinted headings to fit more on a single page. It is the template to reach for when your resume spills a few lines onto page two. It suits people with plenty of projects, internships or roles who still want to hand over one page.

Design details

  • Roboto at 9pt with compact spacing and 12mm margins by default, so more fits on each page.
  • Tinted section headings in a teal accent (#0f766e) help separate dense sections.
  • Change the font, accent color, spacing or margins if a line or two too many is still spilling over.
  • Section order is fully adjustable, and page size can be A4 or US Letter.

Best for

  • Freshers with many projects, internships and activities
  • Campus placements that ask for a one-page resume
  • Professionals with 3-8 years of experience keeping to one page
  • Engineers with long skills and tools lists
  • Anyone whose resume runs slightly onto a second page

Consider another template if

  • Minimal, if your content is short and you would rather use the space for breathing room.
  • Executive, if you are senior and a two-page resume at a comfortable reading size suits you better.
  • Sidebar, if most of the overflow is skills, languages and certifications and you are not applying through a portal.

Is the Compact template ATS-friendly?

Compact is single column, so tight spacing does not change the reading order and it parses cleanly in every ATS.

Tips for filling in the Compact template

  1. Try Compact before cutting content. Switching templates keeps everything in place, so you can compare page counts quickly.
  2. If it still overflows, trim the weakest bullets first; 2-5 strong bullets per role is the range the resume score looks for.
  3. Keep each bullet short. Long bullets wrap to extra lines, which uses the space Compact saves.
  4. Avoid shrinking the font further unless you have to; 9pt is already small, so check the preview for readability.
