A migration playbook that avoids a big-bang switch
- Audit the current IVR. Export the menu tree and a few weeks of call logs. List the reasons people call and how often; usually a handful of reasons account for most of the volume.
- Decide per reason: automate, route or human. Order status, balances, hours and appointment booking are easy to automate. Complaints and complex requests should route to people quickly.
- Design the conversations. Write the bot's prompt for each intent, connect the data it needs (order status, account lookups), and load a knowledge base with your policies and FAQs.

What about agent assist?
"Agent assist" means tools that help your human agents during a live call, such as suggested answers or real-time notes on their screen. It is different from the voice bot that replaces the IVR.
