HR teams with large blue-collar workforces use AI voice calls for exit interviews: a short call in the worker's language, a few simple questions about why they left, and the answers saved as data HR can act on. Factory, warehouse, delivery and field staff rarely fill in online exit forms, and HR can't personally call hundreds of leavers a month. Edesy includes an exit interview template (Hindi, Gujarati and English combinations) built around a few rules that matter for this audience.

Why exit data from frontline staff matters
Attrition in frontline roles is expensive: recruitment, training and lost output. But the reasons are often invisible to head office: a difficult supervisor, a shift change, travel distance, delayed wages, a competitor paying slightly more. Exit interviews surface those patterns, but only if people actually answer them.
Five rules for the call
1. Consent first.
Namaste, kya main {{worker_name}} ji se baat kar sakti hoon? ... Main {{company}} ki HR team ki taraf se ek automated call kar rahi hoon. Aapne haal hi mein kaam chhoda hai. Kya aap 2 minute mein kuch sawaalon ka jawab denge? Aapke jawab gupt rahenge.
2. Confirm identity before the purpose. Phones are often shared with family. The agent asks for the worker by name and only mentions the company and the exit once it's speaking to them. If not, it offers to call back.
3. Simple language. Short sentences, everyday words, one question at a time, options read slowly. Many workers are more comfortable speaking than reading.
4. Neutral, never defensive. The agent doesn't argue or explain company policy. It listens and records.
5. Escalate serious issues to a named person. If a worker mentions harassment, unpaid wages or safety, the agent records it in their words, says a named HR person will contact them, and flags the call for urgent follow-up.

- Early warnings: a spike in "supervisor" or "wages" at one site
- Rehire list: workers who said they would come back
- Urgent flags for serious issues, with the recording
Languages
The template covers Hindi, Gujarati and English combinations. For sites in other states, use Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Kannada or Odia. The tone matters as much as the language; see our Hindi AI calling scripts.
Privacy
Exit interviews are sensitive. Tell workers the call is automated and recorded, keep answers confidential to HR, store data under your policy and the DPDP Act, and never share individual answers with supervisors. See DPDP compliance for voice AI.
Cost
On Edesy, calls are billed per started minute at Rs 4-6 per minute depending on your prepaid top-up, with unanswered calls free. A five-question exit interview takes two to three minutes.
