If your team answers the same 20 questions on the phone every day, an AI voice agent can answer them from your own FAQ, brochure or price list. Upload the document (PDF, DOCX or TXT) or add your website URL to the agent's knowledge base, and it answers callers in Hindi, English or a regional language, connecting them to a person for anything the documents don't cover. Edesy includes an FAQ Assistant template, with Hindi, Gujarati and Odia versions alongside English, as a starting point.

Who uses a FAQ phone assistant
| Business | Questions it answers |
|---|---|
| Coaching institutes and colleges | Courses, batches, fees, scholarships, timings |
| Clinics | Doctors, timings, services, fees, directions |
| Real estate projects | Configurations, sizes, amenities, possession, location |
| Retail and D2C | Store hours, returns, delivery areas, offers |
| Service businesses | Packages, service areas, how to book |
How to set it up
- Collect your documents: FAQ, brochure, price list, policies. Short and current beats long and old.
- Upload them (PDF, DOCX, TXT) or add your website URL to the agent's knowledge base.
- Write short instructions: who the agent is, which language to use, and what to do when it doesn't know.
- Add handoffs: transfer to a person or take a message for anything outside the documents.
- Test with your real top 20 questions, in the languages callers use.
The rule that matters most
If the answer is not in the documents, say you don't have that information and offer to connect the caller to our team. Never guess prices, fees, dates or policies.
An agent that guesses one wrong fee does more damage than one that says "let me connect you".
Prepare documents for voice
- Put facts in plain sentences: "Class 11 batch fee is Rs 45,000 per year", not a complex table.
- Remove old prices and past offers.
- Spell out abbreviations the way they should be spoken; see pronunciation of numbers and acronyms.
- One topic per section, so answers stay short.
Keep answers short
A phone answer should be one or two sentences, then a question: "Kya main aapke liye demo class book kar doon?" Long readings of brochure paragraphs lose callers. See designing AI calls that work in 30 seconds.
Combine with booking
The same agent that answers questions can book: a demo class, a site visit, an appointment, in Google Calendar or Cal.com, with a WhatsApp confirmation. See AI calls for coaching institutes.
Knowledge base or fine-tuning?
For business FAQs, a knowledge base is simpler, cheaper and easier to update than training a model. Background: knowledge base vs fine-tuning for voice AI.
Cost
On Edesy, calls cost Rs 4-6 per started minute depending on your prepaid top-up. Most FAQ calls take one to two minutes.
