The fastest way to a working IVR is to start from a template and change the words and numbers. Ten templates cover most businesses: a greeting, voicemail, a sales/support menu, forwarding, a department menu, language selection, a 1 to 5 survey, order confirmation, COD confirmation and an out-of-service message.

Every template below is built into Edesy IVR Studio. The scripts are the starting wording; change them to sound like your business. For the rules behind good wording, read how to write an IVR script.
Which template fits which business
| Template | Best for | What you fill in |
|---|---|---|
| Play a greeting and hang up | Announcements, temporary closures | The message |
| Greeting, then voicemail | Solo owners, after-hours lines | Greeting and voicemail prompt |
| Menu: Sales or Support | Small teams with two functions | Two forwarding numbers |
| Greeting, then forward | One person takes all calls | One forwarding number |
| Department menu (Sales / Support / Billing) | Growing businesses | Three forwarding numbers |
| Language selection | Customers split across English and Hindi | Greetings in each language |
| Feedback survey (rate 1 to 5) | Post-service CSAT | Question wording |
| Order confirmation (API + HTTP) | Apps that confirm orders or bookings | Your API URL |
| COD confirmation (Hindi / English) | D2C stores shipping cash-on-delivery | Store name; order data comes from the store |
| Reject all calls (out of service) | Retired or blocked numbers | Nothing |
There are also two AI templates, covered at the end.
1. Greeting and hang up
"Thank you for calling. We are unable to take your call right now. Please try again during business hours."
Use it for planned closures, a number you are retiring, or a single announcement. Keep it under 10 seconds.
2. Greeting, then voicemail
"Thanks for calling {Business}. Please leave your name, number and a short message after the tone, and we'll call you back today."
Voicemails appear in call logs with playback. Ask for the name and number explicitly: callers forget. Set the maximum length (10 to 600 seconds; 120 is the default). See voicemail for after-hours calls.
3. Menu: Sales or Support
"Welcome to {Business}. For sales, press 1. For support, press 2."
Option 1: "Connecting you to sales." Option 2: "Connecting you to support."
Two options is the easiest menu a caller can use. Put the more common reason first.
4. Greeting, then forward
"Thanks for calling {Business}. Please hold while we connect your call."
A professional front for a business run from one mobile. The caller hears your greeting, then your phone rings.
5. Department menu
"Thanks for calling {Business}. For sales, press 1. For support, press 2. For billing, press 3."
Three options is comfortable; four is the practical limit (see how many IVR menu options). Use the department name callers use, not your internal team names.
6. Language selection
"For English, press 1. Hindi ke liye, do dabaiye."
English branch: "Thank you for calling. How can we help you today?" Hindi branch: "कॉल करने के लिए धन्यवाद। हम आपकी किस प्रकार सहायता कर सकते हैं?"
Say each language option in that language. After the choice, the rest of the flow continues in the caller's language. For more on this, see Hindi IVR setup.
7. Feedback survey (1 to 5)
"We'd love your feedback. Please rate your experience from 1 to 5. Press a number from 1 to 5."
Ratings show in call history. Ask one question. If you want a reason as well, add an Ask node that captures a spoken answer (see speech input IVR). More in the keypad survey guide.
8. Order confirmation (API + HTTP)
"Hello {{var.customer_name}}, this is {Business} about your order {{var.order_id}}. To confirm, press 1. To cancel, press 2."
Your app places the call with the outbound IVR API and passes the variables. When the caller presses a key, an HTTP Request node calls your API with the choice. See the IVR HTTP Request node guide and the outbound IVR API guide.
9. COD confirmation (Hindi and English)
Customer name, store, order number and amount are filled in automatically; in the Hindi script the amount is spoken in Hindi words. Press 1 to confirm, press 2 to cancel, and the result is written back to the store. If you run a store, COD order confirmation sets this up without building a flow.
10. Reject all calls
Declines every call with busy or unavailable. Useful for a number you are retiring or for blocking calls on a number while you rebuild its flow.
The two AI templates
- AI voice assistant hands the call to your own bot over a WebSocket stream.
- AI assistant, with a human option offers "For our virtual assistant, press 1. To speak with a person, press 0." Press 0 forwards to a phone.
Both need your bot's wss:// URL. Edesy IVR Studio does not include a hosted AI agent in the flow; if you
want one, see the AI voice agent.
How to use a template
- Sign up at ivr.edesy.in and pick a template.
- Edit the prompts. Use the audio preview to hear each one without a call.
- Fill in forwarding numbers; live validation shows anything missing.
- Place a test call to your own phone.
- Publish, then connect a number to the flow.
