PDF to HTML Converter

Turn a PDF into an HTML file you can open in any browser or paste into a website. Choose clean HTML that flows like a web page, or a layout copy that keeps every page as it looked. The conversion happens in your browser, so the PDF is never uploaded.

When people convert PDF to HTML

Publishing on a website or blog

Get headings and paragraphs as HTML to paste into a CMS instead of retyping a PDF.

Readable on phones

Clean HTML reflows to any screen width, unlike a PDF page that needs zooming.

Viewing without a PDF reader

The layout copy opens in any browser and keeps text selectable and searchable.

Clean HTML or keep layout?

Clean HTML

Text is grouped into paragraphs by the space between lines. Larger text becomes headings, ranked by how much bigger it is than the body text. Lines that start with a bullet or a number become lists. Web links in the PDF are kept.

Tables and multi-column pages are read line by line, so check those parts. Images, when included, are placed after the text of the page they come from.

Keep layout

Each page becomes a box the size of the PDF page, with every piece of text positioned where it was. With page images on, the rendered page sits underneath (figures, colours, drawings) and the text on top is invisible but selectable, the way PDF viewers do it.

This copy is for viewing, not editing like a normal web page. Fonts are not embedded, so text uses a similar font installed on the device.

Safe output

  • All text from the PDF is escaped, so a PDF containing code cannot run it in the HTML.
  • Only web and email links are kept; JavaScript and file links are dropped.
  • The HTML contains no scripts.
  • Scanned PDF with no text? Run OCR PDF first. Just need plain text? Use PDF to Text or PDF to Markdown.
