The Date Calculator has two modes: Days between dates and Add or subtract.

Days between dates#

  1. Pick a start date and an end date.
  2. Read the results:
    • Total days: from the start date to the end date. The end date is not counted; add 1 if you want to count both days.
    • Years, months, days: the calendar difference, e.g. 15 January to 20 March is 0 y 2 m 5 d.
    • Weeks: whole weeks plus the remaining days.
    • Working days (Mon-Fri): Saturdays and Sundays left out. Public holidays are not removed, so subtract any that fall in the range.

If the end date is before the start date, the counts are shown as positive numbers and the tool tells you the dates are reversed.

Add or subtract#

  1. Pick a start date.
  2. Enter how many days, weeks, months or years, and choose Add or Subtract.
  3. The result shows the new date, its weekday and how many days away it is.

When you add months or years and the same day doesn't exist in the target month, the result moves to the last day of that month: 31 January plus 1 month is 28 February (29 in a leap year).

Common uses#

  • Notice periods: start date plus 30, 60 or 90 days.
  • Invoice due dates: invoice date plus 30 or 45 days.
  • Countdowns: today to an exam or a launch date.

FAQ#

Does it use my time zone? Dates are compared as calendar dates, so time zones and daylight saving don't change the result.
