GST Components

Intra-State (Within Same State)

For transactions within the same state:

  • CGST (Central GST) - Goes to Central Government
  • SGST (State GST) - Goes to State Government
  • Each is half of the total GST rate

Example: 18% GST = 9% CGST + 9% SGST

Inter-State (Between States)

For transactions between different states:

  • IGST (Integrated GST) - Single tax to Central Government
  • Equals the full GST rate

Example: 18% GST = 18% IGST
