Countdown timer FAQ

Does the timer reset for each visitor?

No. Every visitor sees the same countdown to your real deadline. Timers that restart for each visitor create false urgency, which India's 2023 Guidelines for Prevention and Regulation of Dark Patterns list as a dark pattern.

Which timezone does it use?

You pick the deadline in your own timezone, for example 11:59 PM IST. Visitors anywhere in the world count down to that same moment.

What happens when the time is up?

The timer stops. Choose whether it disappears or shows a short message such as The sale has ended.

Will the top bar cover my site header?

The bar sits over the top of the page. If it hides important navigation, use the bottom bar or the in-page block, or let visitors close it.

Does it work on Shopify and WordPress?

Yes. Paste the code in Shopify's theme.liquid or a Custom Liquid section, or in a WordPress footer code plugin or Custom HTML block.

Is the countdown timer free?

Yes, it's free with no signup, on as many sites as you like. The one-line code loads a small script from edesy.in and shows a small "by Edesy" link. It sets no cookies and doesn't track your visitors; your settings live inside the code you paste.
