When people use it

Sideways phone photos

A photo that shows up sideways in an upload form or on a PC. Rotate it 90° and save a copy that every app shows upright.

Mirrored selfies and webcam shots

Front cameras often save a mirrored picture, so text reads backwards. Flip it horizontally to fix it.

Tilted scans and documents

Straighten a page photographed at a slight angle with the angle slider, 1° at a time.

Rotating and flipping images

Rotate by 90°, 180° or any angle

Left 90° and Right 90° turn the picture a quarter turn, and the width and height swap. 180° turns it upside down. For a small tilt, drag the angle slider: the canvas grows to fit the turned image, and the corners it leaves empty are filled with the colour you pick.

  • Transparent corners work for PNG and WebP. JPG has no transparency, so JPG files get white corners when Transparent is chosen.
  • To cut the empty corners off afterwards, use Crop Image.

Flip horizontal or vertical

Flip horizontal mirrors the picture left to right, which fixes mirrored selfies and backwards text. Flip vertical mirrors it top to bottom. Flipping twice brings the picture back.

Why phone photos sometimes look sideways

Phones save photos in one direction and add a note (the EXIF orientation tag) that says which way is up. Some apps ignore the note and show the photo sideways. This tool reads the note first, so what you see in the preview is what you get, and the saved file is stored the right way up.
