HEIC to JPG Converter

iPhones save photos as HEIC, which many Windows PCs, Android apps and upload forms won't open. Convert them to JPG here: add one photo or many, pick the quality and download. The conversion runs in your browser, so your photos are never uploaded.

When people use it

iPhone photos on a Windows PC

Photos copied from an iPhone arrive as .heic files that the PC may not open. Convert them to JPG to view and edit them anywhere.

Upload forms that want JPG

Job portals, exam forms, visa and KYC forms often accept only JPG or PNG. Convert first, then upload.

Sharing with Android and older apps

Send JPG copies to people and apps that can't read HEIC.

Converting HEIC to JPG

What is a HEIC file?

HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is the format iPhones use for photos by default. It is based on HEIF and stores a photo in roughly half the space of a JPG at similar quality. The catch is support: Apple devices open it everywhere, but many other devices and websites don't.

Why Windows, Android and upload forms reject it

Windows needs an extra codec from the Microsoft Store to show HEIC files, and many photo viewers, older Android apps and web upload forms only accept JPG or PNG. Converting to JPG is the simplest fix because every device and form reads it.

Make your iPhone shoot JPG instead

To stop getting HEIC files, open Settings > Camera > Formats on the iPhone and choose Most Compatible. New photos are then saved as JPG. Photos you've already taken stay HEIC, so convert those here.

Good to know

  • Converted files don't keep the photo's metadata (date taken, camera details, location). That can be useful for privacy, but keep the originals if you need it.
  • If a HEIC file holds several images (such as a burst), only the first image is converted.
  • The first conversion downloads the converter (about 1.3 MB) once; after that it runs from your browser.
