Voice Changer turns a recording into a robot, a deep voice, a chipmunk and more. It is made for fun and creative projects, and your audio is processed in your browser, never uploaded.

How to Use#

  1. Under Voice source, choose Record or Upload file.
    • Record: click Start recording, allow microphone access, then click Stop recording. Click Record again to replace the clip.
    • Upload file: drop an audio file (MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, OGG and more).
  2. Pick an Effect: Pitch only, Robot (selected by default), Deep, Chipmunk, Echo, Radio / phone, Alien or Cave / hall.
  3. Adjust Pitch (-12 to +12 semitones) and Effect amount.
  4. Choose a Download format: WAV (default) or MP3.
  5. Click Apply effect and listen to the result in the player.
  6. Click Download WAV or Download MP3.

Things to know#

  • Recording length: recording stops by itself after 5 minutes.
  • Keep original speed: on by default, so the pitch changes but the timing stays the same. This uses an audio engine of about 30 MB, loaded once. Turn it off for a faster tape-style effect where higher pitch also plays faster.
  • MP3: encoding to MP3 also loads the audio engine the first time. If MP3 encoding fails, you can still download the WAV.
  • Effect amount blends the effect with your original voice. Lower means more of the original. It shows "n/a" for effects that only change pitch (Pitch only, Deep, Chipmunk).
  • Changing a setting after applying means you need to click Apply effect again.
  • Browser support: needs Web Audio rendering, which current Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari have.
  • Privacy: audio stays on your device.

Tips#

  • Pitch only with a few semitones up or down is the most natural-sounding change.
  • Echo and Cave / hall sound clearer at a lower effect amount.
