COD Order Confirmation Calls for Shopify

A COD order is placed on your Shopify store, we call the customer a couple of minutes later, they press 1 to confirm or 2 to cancel, and the order is tagged COD-CONFIRMED or cancelled in your Shopify admin. During the pilot we set up the connection for you.

How it works on Shopify

Shopify sends us the order; the answer comes back as a tag or a cancellation

Connect your Shopify store
A custom app in your store gives us order webhooks and access to the customer's phone number. We set this up with you during the pilot.
Choose your calling rules
Calling hours in IST, delay after the order, retries, and which orders to call (usually only Cash on Delivery).
Customers get called
The call reads out the order number and COD amount in Hindi or English. Press 1 to confirm, 2 to cancel.
Shopify order updated
Confirmed orders get the COD-CONFIRMED tag. Cancelled orders are cancelled through Shopify's own order cancel.

What changes in your Shopify admin

Tags are the default labels; rename them to fit your fulfilment filters or to avoid clashing with tags your other apps add.

Confirmed: COD-CONFIRMED tag

Added to the order when the customer presses 1. Filter your orders list by this tag to see what's ready to ship.

Cancelled: order cancelled

When the customer presses 2, the order is cancelled using Shopify's order cancel, the same as cancelling it in your admin.

Unreachable: COD-UNREACHABLE tag

After the last retry with no answer, the order is tagged so your team can call, hold or ship it.

Already handled: no call

If the order was cancelled in Shopify or already carries your confirmed tag, we skip the call.

What your Shopify store needs

  • A custom app with access to customer details. Shopify hides customer phone numbers and addresses from apps that don't have protected customer data access. Without it, orders reach us with no phone number and no call can be made. During setup we check that phone numbers are coming through before any calls go live.
  • Order webhooks for order creation and cancellation, signed by Shopify and checked on our side. If an order arrives without the details we need, we fetch it from Shopify before calling.
  • Your COD payment method name. We recognise COD orders by the payment method shown on the order ("Cash on Delivery" by default). If your store uses a different name, we match that instead.

Good to know

  • Payment status is not changed. Confirmation is recorded as a tag, the way most Shopify COD workflows already work. Marking the order paid stays with your courier or COD remittance process.
  • Not in the Shopify App Store yet. During the pilot the connection runs through a custom app in your own store, and we set it up with you.
  • Duplicate webhooks are ignored. Shopify can send the same event more than once; each order still gets only one confirmation journey.
