Crop Video

Cut the edges off a video: drag a box over the first frame to keep just the part you want, or lock it to 9:16, 16:9, 1:1 or 4:5. Remove black bars, a logo in the corner, or empty space around the subject. Everything runs in your browser, so your video is never uploaded.

When people use it

Black bars

Crop off the bars from a screen recording or a video that was letterboxed.

A logo or timestamp in the corner

Keep the middle of the picture and leave the corner out.

Focus on the subject

Cut away empty space so the person or product fills the frame, for example as a 9:16 Reel.

Cropping a video

Crop or resize?

Cropping cuts part of the picture away. If you want the whole picture in a new shape, for example a landscape video as a vertical Reel with a blurred background, use Resize Video instead.

What happens to the quality?

The kept area is saved at its own size, without stretching, and re-encoded to H.264 at a quality setting that looks the same to the eye. A small crop from a small video gives a small picture: cropping can't add detail.

Want to do more with the video?

Large files and browser memory

The video is re-encoded in your browser, which takes about as long as it plays on a computer, and longer on a phone. Very long or 4K videos can run out of browser memory. If one fails, close other tabs or try it on a computer.
