Add Music to Video

Put a song under a video, or replace its sound with music. Pick the part of the song to use on its waveform, set the music and the video's own sound to the levels you want, and loop or fade the music. The picture is copied as is, so it is quick and the quality stays the same. Everything runs in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.

When people use it

Reels, Shorts and Status videos

Add a song before posting, with the voices in the clip still audible underneath.

Slideshows and travel videos

Replace wind and traffic noise with music.

Product and event videos

Put background music under a demo or a highlights clip.

Adding music to a video

Mixing the music with the video's sound

The two volume sliders are independent. To keep people talking in the clip audible, leave the video's own sound at 30% to 60% and the music around 100%. To use only the music, slide the video's own sound to 0: its sound is replaced. The music can go up to 200% if the song is quiet.

Which part of the song is used

The highlighted part of the waveform is the section that plays under the video: it is as long as the video. Drag it to start the music at the chorus, or wherever you like, and press play to hear it. If the rest of the song is shorter than the video, it repeats from the same point, unless you turn repeating off.

Music and copyright

Instagram, YouTube and Facebook can mute or block videos that use songs you don't have the rights to. Use your own music, royalty-free tracks, or the app's own music library when you post publicly.
